South Carolina basketball signee named All-American

South Carolina basketball signee Eli Ellis is the highest-rated player in the Gamecocks’ 2025 signing class. The dynamic combo guard is extremely skilled and is one of the hardest workers in the country. He will arrive on campus this summer with high expectations.
He also will arrive as a high school All-American.

Despite being snubbed by the McDonald’s All-American Game recently, Ellis earned a different All-American status last week. Ellis made the Iverson Classic All-American Game as one of the top 26 players in the country.
Named after and presented by Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame member Allen Iverson, the Iverson Classic All-American Game will have seven On3 5-star prospects and 19 4-star recruits. Ellis is the second lowest-rated prospect in the game, perhaps indicating his ranking is too low.
As things stand today, On3’s industry ranking–a weighted composite of the rankings from On3, 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals–considers the South Carolina basketball signee to be the No. 70 overall player in the country. He’s also No. 4 in North Carolina and No. 21 among all shooting guards nationally.

Ellis also is the reigning Overtime Elite MVP and is a favorite to win the award again this year. No one has ever scored more points with OTE than Ellis.
Carolina also signed his teammate Hayden Assemian and is recruiting his class of 2026 teammates Kohl Rosario and Isaac Ellis. Isaac Ellis is Eli’s younger brother.
