South Carolina basketball commit breaks another record en route to playoff win

South Carolina basketball commitment Eli Ellis is playing in the Overtime Elite championship series. On Thursday night, he led his YNG Dreamerz team to a victory in game three, giving them a 2-1 series lead over the City Reapers. In the win, Ellis set an all-time record.
Ellis logged an impressive stat line of 33 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. His four dimes made him the Overtime Elite all-time leader in the category. He’s also the top scorer in the history of the league and the two-time defending MVP.
Ellis dominated in the first two games of the series, as well. For the series, he is averaging 36.3 points and better than 50% shooting both from the field and from the perimeter. Now, the future South Carolina guard is one win away from an Overtime Elite championship.
Game four will take place on Friday, March 14th, and game five (if necessary) will be on Sunday, March 16th. Friday’s contest will begin at 7:00 p.m., while Sunday’s (if necessary) will be at 3:00 p.m. Both games will stream on Overtime Elite’s YouTube channel.

The On3 industry ranking’s No. 70 overall prospect in the country, Ellis committed to South Carolina last fall and will arrive on campus this summer. His teammate (and Palmetto State native) Hayden Assemian also is a Gamecock commitment. Class of 2026 teammates Isaac Ellis (Eli’s brother) and Kohl Rosario are USC targets.
South Carolina has two other commitments joining Ellis and Assemian in the class of 2025. Sharpshooting wing Grant Polk and versatile forward EJ Walker will join the program this summer, too. The four-man class ranks 49th nationally.
