South Carolina basketball signee Eli Ellis won’t arrive in Columbia until this summer, but the dynamic scoring guard is already one of the most famous current Gamecock athletes. The two-time Overtime Elite MVP and champion is also a social media star. Now, he has a starring role in a commercial.

Under Armour, the official apparel outfitter of South Carolina Athletics, dropped an Ellis-centered ad targeted toward those who doubt him. The social media post accompanying the ad held the caption “LET THEM TALK…UNTIL THEY CAN’T.” You can watch the commercial below.

In the 30-second ad, internet comedy group RDCworld1 parodies basketball social media critics, “Mr. Back In My Day,” “intramural athlete,” “hating classmates,” and others who have loudly argued against Ellis’ ability to be a successful player. Naturally, when they meet on the court, Ellis makes them look silly and gives the camera a “shhhh.”

Commercials don’t mean anything for on-court success, but the ad speaks to Ellis’ competitive nature. Despite his lack of elite size and athletic ability, he has outperformed all expectations up to this point. If he can continue that at the college level, it will mean good things for South Carolina basketball.

Ellis is locked in with the Gamecocks and could play a major role on the team as soon as his freshman year. Joining him in the incoming freshman class are versatile forward EJ Walker, sharpshooting wing Grant Polk, and athletic forward Hayden Assemian.

During his senior campaign, Ellis averaged 32.1 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.7 rebounds. He also made three 3-pointers per game and made 86.4% of his foul shots. Playing in a league loaded with 4-star and 5-star talent, Ellis was the MVP and Finals MVP. His brother Isaac Ellis and teammate Kohl Rosario are USC targets in the class of 2026.
