Eli Ellis and Hayden Assemian are part of a four-man incoming freshman class for South Carolina basketball along with Washington DC sharpshooting wing Grant Polk and versatile Kentucky forward EJ Walker.

Ellis is the two-time OTE MVP and the league’s all-time leading scorer. The dynamic scoring guard also is a social media dynamo who will bring added eyeballs to the Gamecocks next year. He can score at all three levels and plays with intense competitiveness. On3’s industry ranking considers the class of 2025 prospect the No. 70 overall recruit in the country. He earned Iverson Classic All-American recognition this season.

Assemian, a player originally from Powdersville High School in South Carolina, transferred to team up with Ellis for his senior season. Assemian is an explosive forward who left Powdersville as the program’s all-time leader in rebounding and blocked shots. He also led the Patriots to their first state championship. He ranks as the No. 243 overall player in the ’25 cycle.

Isaac Ellis (Eli’s younger brother) and Kohl Rosario are USC targets in the class of 2026. South Carolina does not have any current pledges in the class.

The younger Ellis is a combo guard like his older brother, but he is a more complete defender. The left-handed shooter has some scoring punch, too. Not as highly rated (yet), Isaac Ellis recently earned his first recruiting ranking, a 3-star distinction from On3.

The recruiting industry lists Rosario as a shooting guard, but the 6-5 Florida native has enough athleticism to play either wing spot. He is as bouncy as almost anyone in the 2026 class, and he has been improving his outside jumper. Rosario is the No. 165 player in the cycle.

Ellis, Ellis, and Rosario made the All-OTE team this season. Isaac Ellis was a finalist for OTE’s Defensive Player of the Year award.
