On Tuesday, South Carolina basketball revealed its player representatives joining head coach Lamont Paris at the SEC Basketball Tip-Off. According to a social media graphic from the team, sophomore forward Collin Murray-Boyles and senior transfer center Nick Pringle will make the trip to Birmingham with their head coach.

Paris, Murray-Boyles, and Pringle will spend their time speaking to the media about the upcoming season and their quest for back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament—something the Gamecocks have not been able to accomplish since the 1990s.

Last year’s SEC Tip-Off saw Coach Paris defiantly push back against the Gamecocks’ doubters in the press. The SEC media voted USC to finish last in the conference. Instead, Paris won SEC Coach of the Year en route to a second-place (tied) finish in the Southeastern Conference standings.

Many in the college basketball world expect Murray-Boyles to be the Gamecocks’ top player this season. After a breakout freshman campaign (one delayed by a bout with Mononucleosis), the Columbia native became a star. Instead of opting to head to the NBA, CMB elected to return to South Carolina for his sophomore year. Most NBA Draft analysts agree, though, that a good year for No. 31 pushes him into the 1st round in 2025.

Pringle, also a Palmetto State native, is entering his first year with the South Carolina basketball program. Starting his career at Wofford, the 6’10” big man started for the Alabama Crimson Tide’s Final Four team last year. The springy post player provides the Gamecocks with a combination of size and athleticism not present on last year’s team. He likely will be a great compliment to Murray-Boyles in the starting lineup.

Paris, Murray-Boyles, and Pringle will be first on the docket, owning the spotlight from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

The 2024-2025 SEC Tip-Off is set for October 15th and 16th. SECNetwork is broadcasting the event.
