On Wedensday, former South Carolina basketball wing Arden Conyers found a new home in the transfer portal. Following two seasons in Columbia, the rising redshirt sophomore will play next season for the Charlotte 49ers.

Conyers joins a Charlotte that went 11-22 during the 2024-2025 season and can use some added scoring punch. The 6-7 Columbia native has offensive potential as an athletic scorer and should get more minutes as he looks to meet that potential with the 49ers.

During his days at Carolina, Conyers averaged 4.3 points and 1.2 rebounds while logging more turnovers than assists. He shot just 30.8% from the field and 28.8% from the 3-point line. He redshirted the 2023-2024 campaign, meaning he still has three potential years of college eligibility remaining.

Conyers was one of six Gamecocks who have entered the portal this offseason. Fellow guards Cam Scott, Austin Herro, Zach Davis, and Jamarii Thomas (who still has to appeal for another year) and post player Nick Pringle will not be part of the program next season.

South Carolina has added three transfer commitments so far. 7-foot post player Christ Essandoko, 6-6 shot-maker Treysen Eaglestaff, and former Gamecock Meechie Johnson have joined the fold. Lamont Paris’ program still has room on its roster to add more, as well. Four incoming true freshmen also have signed. Dynamic scoring guard Eli Ellis, sharpshooting wing Grant Polk, explosive athlete Hayden Assemian, and versatile forward EJ Walker are set to enroll at USC this summer.
