South Carolina basketball guard to enter transfer portal

On Thursday, On3’s Joe Tipton reported that South Carolina basketball guard Austin Herro plans to enter the transfer portal. Herro, a former walk-on for the Gamecocks and younger brother of NBA star Tyler Herro, was put on scholarship ahead of the 2024-2025 season. He played in 10 total games at USC and scored two points.
Despite the Gamecocks’ struggles on the court this season, Herro did not have a clear path to minutes. He will enter the portal with three years of eligibility remaining.
Herro’s decision likely won’t be the final bit of transfer portal news South Carolina makes this offseason. Lamont Paris and company will be active buyers in the portal.
