Versatile ACC forward in transfer portal contacted by South Carolina

South Carolina basketball coach Lamont Paris has reached out to a lot of players in the transfer portal this week as the Gamecocks expect to take a large portal class this cycle. Several of the players on USC’s radar were opponents on the 2024-2025 schedule. Per 247Sports’ Travis Branham, the latest is former Boston College Eagles forward Elijah Strong.
Ironically, like the rest of his team, Strong had one of his worst performances against Carolina. Still, the 6-8 forward had a solid season for Boston College. Playing as a starter early in the year and as the team’s sixth man later in the campaign, Strong averaged 9.6 points and 4.1 rebounds as a forward for the Eagles.

Strong logged a pair of double-doubles this year, including a monster 25-point, 13-rebound performance against Temple. He doesn’t spend a lot of time in the paint, but he has decent finishing ability down low. He’s not left-handed but is extremely comfortable going left. Strong also likes to score on catch-and-shoot opportunities (both from outside and mid-range). He shot over 36% on 3-pointers this season.

He’s not known for defense, but at 6-8 and 235 pounds, Strong can bang with bigger post players if needed. That size also comes in handy in favorable rebounding matchups.
Other power conference teams like Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Cal, Penn State, and NC State have been in contact with Strong. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
