The transfer portal officially hasn’t opened yet, but South Carolina basketball (along with almost every other program in the country) already has had some portal activity affecting its roster. Graduates may enter the portal at any time, but with the portal officially opening on March 24th, underclassmen have begun to announce their intentions to transfer, as well.

The transfer portal window will open on the 24th and then close on April 22nd. Players already in the portal can commit to new schools whenever they like, even after the window closes.

GamecockCentral has established this landing page that will act as sort of a live blog featuring all of South Carolina’s transfer portal happenings.

The “blog” will be updated whenever new content is posted on the GC front page or The Insiders Forum.

On Friday, former Iowa Hawkeyes guard Brock Harding is down to six schools in his portal recruitment. According to a report from On3’s Joe Tipton, the sophomore likes the South Carolina Gamecocks, TCU Horned Frogs, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Louisville Cardinals, Washington Huskies, and Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Despite being a rising junior, Harding is already in the transfer portal because Iowa players received a 30-day window for portal entry when the Hawkeyes fired head coach Fran McCaffery last weekend.

As things stand, the 6-foot guard ranks No. 31 overall in On3’s transfer portal player rankings. He also is the country’s No. 7 transfer point guard.

On3’s Joe Tipton reported that South Carolina basketball guard Austin Herro plans to enter the transfer portal.
