South Carolina reaches out to intriguing transfer portal guard

Late on Wednesday night, The Portal Report revealed that former Stanford, Davidson, and Radford guard Jarvis Moss (no, Gamecock fans, not that Jarvis Moss) had shared that he had heard from some major conference programs, including South Carolina. Moss, a player who will need a waiver from the NCAA to play a fifth season (he played just five games in his first collegiate season at Stanford), spent two years at Sanford, one at Davidson, and one at Radford.
Moss’ role was small at both Stanford and Davidson. However, he had his breakout at Radford this past season. The 6-4 guard helped lead the Highlanders to a 20-win season, leading the team with 13.5 points per game. Moss also shot 37.6% from the 3-point arc and 84.2% from the foul line. He made the All-Southern Conference team and the conference’s All-Academic team.

Moss is a long guard who can provide scoring with or without the basketball. He is a confident ballhander and can provide shooting in catch-and-shoot or off-the-bounce situations. The North Carolina native doesn’t provide much as a natural facilitator, but he’s not a bad passer when needed.
South Carolina has picked up five commitments in the transfer portal so far. Christ Essandoko, Meechie Johnson, Kobe Knox, Elijah Strong, and Mike Sharavjamts all should play a role on next year’s team. Lamont Paris’ team still has four available scholarships to use this portal cycle. Any additional transfer portal movement or a Collin Murray-Boyles NBA Draft reversal would change that number.
