South Carolina lost to North Florida in its season opener of the 2024-2025 campaign. After seeing what he can do in person, the Gamecocks now are among the suitors for a former Ospreys star who is in the transfer portal.

Per his confirmation on social media, 6-6 multi-positional wing Jasai Miles has received interest from USC in recent days. He’s also heard from about 15 other major programs.

This season, Miles averaged 15.4 points and 6.8 rebounds en route to All-Atlantic Sun honors. The sophomore was also the leading rebounder in his team’s upset victory over the Gamecocks.

Miles can play any position on the floor but point guard and center and did so for North Florida. He adds to his versatility with his willingness to shoot the ball from behind the arc. In fact, he made at least one 3-pointer in all but two games this season. He attempted and made more outside shots than anyone on Carolina’s roster, though he made just 33.5% of the tries. Some of his efficiency struggles came from being relied upon to take a lot of difficult shots.

A big-time rebounder for a player who isn’t always in the paint, Miles logged five double-doubles this season. He also chipped in with 1.9 assists per game as a tertiary playmaker, usually in drive-and-kick situations. On defense, he uses his length and 205-pound frame to swallow up smaller guards and hold his own against forwards.

Lamont Paris is restructuring nearly the entire roster in Columbia this offseason, so USC fans can expect a flurry of transfer moves at some point this spring. The Gamecocks have put a lot of irons in the fire in the first days of the open portal window, and word from behind the scenes is that a few of them could be getting hot.
