On Friday, South Carolina guard Morris Ugusuk told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he plans to enter the transfer portal. He will be joined in the portal by fellow Finland native Okku Federiko.

Ugusuk showed some flashes during two years with the Gamecocks, primarily as an efficient 3-point shooter. However, the rest of his game struggled as he averaged less than one assist per game in both seasons and didn’t develop enough as a ballhandler or defender.

Federiko did not play after enrolling at USC during this season. He was able to redshirt.

Rated as a 3-star prospect out of Finland, Ugusuk will have two more years of eligibility at his next college stop. Federiko, a former 4-star recruit, will have four years left to play.

Following a disappointing 2024-2025 campaign, Lamont Paris’ team will have a very different look next season. The Gamecocks have now seen eight players leave via the transfer portal and two more fully exhaust their eligibility. Four freshmen and four transfer signees will join the program this summer.

At the time of this writing, Carolina has four open scholarship spots for Paris to use in the portal. A Collin Murray-Boyles NBA Draft declaration or further transfer activity will change that number.
