South Carolina basketball coach Lamont Paris will be reloading his roster this offseason. With four incoming freshmen, one redshirt freshman who didn’t enroll until the winter, and several transfer portal additions expected to come, the 2025-2026 Gamecocks will look much different than the team that went 12-20 this year.

So far, Carolina has seen a trio of guards (Austin Herro, Zach Davis, and Arden Conyers) reveal their intentions of leaving the program via the transfer portal. Fans can expect Paris and company to be active in trying to replace/upgrade those spots.

On Monday, On3’s Joe Tipton reported that the Gamecocks have reached out to one of the top players in the portal, high-scoring wing Treysen Eaglestaff of North Dakota.

Eaglestaff’s list of potential suitors is long. In fact, just based on Tipton’s report, over 20 power conference programs have interest in the 6-6 wing.

A look at his numbers tells the story. Eaglestaff averaged just under 19 points per game this season and made 36% of his perimeter shots. He scored in double-figures in all but three games this season, including a 51-point outburst against South Dakota State. He dropped 40 points on Alabama during the non-conference portion of the schedule, as well.

The South Carolina staff will have their work cut out for them to woo a player like Eaglestaff to Columbia. However, the Gamecocks’ improved NIL budget and need for talent have given Paris a bolder approach to the transfer portal.
