South Carolina Gamecocks win big over tough Towson Tigers team
South Carolina won its second game in a row on Tuesday with a convincing victory over Towson. Despite playing against their toughest foe through the first three games of the year, the Gamecocks dominated. USC won the rebounding battle and got big performances from some of their best players.
Collin Murray-Boyles went 9-for-12 from the floor and 9-for-10 from the free throw line. Carolina also got 31 combined points from Nick Pringle and Jacobi Wright. The overall defensive effort was the best of the season.
After the game, Coach Paris seemed pleased with his team’s performance. He also added that the opening night loss to North Florida might have opened the Gamecocks’ eyes a bit.
Result: South Carolina won 80-54

South Carolina Gamecocks lost on the road to Indiana Hoosiers
In, by far, the toughest environment the Gamecocks will see in out-of-conference play, USC fell to the Indiana Hoosiers. Carolina stuck with the starting lineup of Jamarii Thomas-Jacobi Wright-Myles Stute-Collin Murray-Boyles-Nick Pringle. A good opening two minutes quickly turned into disaster as Indiana went on a 14-0 run that proved to be the deciding stretch.

Murray-Boyles fouled out with just two points scored and four turnovers. However, the Gamecocks got a career performance from guard Morris Ugusuk, who scored 18 points. Nick Pringle had a quiet first half but was a stabilizing force late once Ugusuk and Myles Stute cooled off from their hot starts. Alongside Murray-Boyles, the starting guards really struggled in this game.
Despite being behind most of the game and without their best player, South Carolina never quit. The Gamecocks outscored Indiana in the second half until late-game free throws pushed their margin to 16. Zach Davis also left the game for a little while with what appeared to be an ankle injury. He did return, however.
Result: South Carolina lost 87-71
