South Carolina board approves contract for Marquel Blackwell
South Carolina’s Board of Trustees approved a contract for new running backs coach Marquel Blackwell on Friday afternoon.
Per the agreement, Blackwell’s contract will be two years, ending on Dec. 31, 2025. He’ll make $400,000 this year and $575,000 next year.
Blackwell, a former quarterback at South Florida, played professionally from 2003-2006. He spent time with both the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
After his playing days were over, he jumped right into coaching where he worked at the high school level for three years. He then became USF’s offensive coordinator in 2009.
