South Carolina bowl projections: Week 12

With the Gamecocks officially bowl eligible – as of two weeks ago – South Carolina is now in bowl audition season.
Shane Beamer and company’s bowl stock might’ve taken a few hits with losses to Missouri and Florida, but they have two more weeks to secure wins that could help them land in a bigger bowl game.
The newest bowl projections have been released over the last few days and the most frequent projection is the Las Vegas Bowl.
The Vegas Bowl is the newest bowl with an SEC tie-in, and South Carolina is projected by three outlets to play a variation of top PAC-12 teams.
The Liberty Bowl and the Texas Bowl are also two common bowl’s the Gamecocks are projected to play in.
For the sake of your holiday travel plans, South Carolina is only projected to play in one bowl game before Christmas, the rest come anywhere from three to six days after.

ESPN (Kyle Bonagura): Las Vegas Bowl (Dec. 17) vs Oregon
ESPN (Mark Schlabach): Gator Bowl (Dec. 30) vs Florida State
Saturday Down South: Las Vegas Bowl (Dec. 17) vs Oregon State
Sporting News: Liberty Bowl (Dec. 28) vs Baylor
Sports Illustrated: TaxAct Texas Bowl (Dec. 28) vs Texas

South Carolina got to bowl eligibility with wins in the non-conference against Georgia State, Charlotte and also South Carolina State. The Gamecocks also have three league wins currently against Kentucky, Texas A&M and most recently Vanderbilt.

This is South Carolina’s fifth bowl game in the last eight seasons and first time going to consecutive bowls since playing in three straight from 2016 to 2018.
The Gamecocks have three regular-season games left, next up a road tilt against Florida. South Carolina then hosts Tennessee in its home finale before finishing up on the road at Clemson. The final two games are against AP top-15 teams.
ESPN’s Matchup Predictor gives South Carolina a 10.6 percent chance to beat Tennessee this weekend. The Gamecocks are given a 9.9 percent chance to upset their arch-rival Clemson on Thanksgiving weekend.
SEC Nation will be in town this weekend when South Carolina takes on Tennessee at 7:00 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN.
