South Carolina catcher entering transfer portal

South Carolina sophomore catcher Ryan Bakes is entering the transfer portal, he announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday.
“After careful thought and consideration, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal when it opens on June 2nd,” Bakes said in his post. “I want to thank my teammates and the most passionate fans in college baseball for the memories and support @gamecockBasebll.”
Bakes, who will have two years of eligibility remaining, spent two seasons with the Gamecocks. In 31 career games, he hit .149 with one homer and 10 RBI.
The transfer portal will be open from June 2 to July 1 for all players.
