South Carolina commits Trovon Baugh, Djay Braswell honored by ATL Touchdown Club
South Carolina football commitments Trovon Baugh and Dontavius “Djay” Braswell landed on the 2022 Touchdown Club of Atlanta Pre-Season All-Star Team, which was announced Tuesday.
Baugh, an On3Consensus four-star OL from Atlanta (Ga.) Pace, committed to the Gamecocks in late May, helping kick off an impressive recruiting run that has vaulted the Gamecocks’ 2023 class into the Top 25 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.

“The energy around there is consistent,” Baugh said of the Gamecocks at the time of his commitment. “At some programs, you may get some fake energy. From day one until now, the staff checks up on me when I take tests. Coach (Shane) Beamer does an amazing job with the team over there. The future is great. The energy at practice all the way to lunch is booming. That’s one word coach Beamer likes to say; booming. I say we can get Columbia back booming and bring a national championship.”
Now the third-highest ranked prospect in the Gamecocks’ class, Baugh is ranked the No. 339 overall prospect and No. 21 interior offensive lineman in the class in the On3Consensus, which averages the four major recruiting media companies.
On3’s analysts are even higher on Baugh, ranking him the No. 216 overall prospect in the country and No. 17 IOL.

Braswell, the Sandersville (Ga.) Washington County class of 2023 On3Consensus four-star running back, is now the second-highest rated prospect in the Gamecocks’ class, after making a sizable leap in the eyes of the recruiting industry in a recent major rankings update.
When Braswell committed earlier this month, he was ranked the No. 290 overall prospect and No. 16 running back with a rating of 89.92. But with Braswell’s new 90.67 rating, he’s considered the No. 10 back in the country and No. 225 overall prospect.
He’s also a consensus four-star prospect across all the major services.
Braswell’s pledge to the Gamecocks came as somewhat of a surprise to those who were not paying close attention to The Insiders Forum on Gamecock Central. After initially listing a final four of Nebraska, Alabama, Oregon and Boston College, the speedy back announced a pledge to the Gamecocks.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Braswell ran for 1,081 yards on just 80 carries as a junior, good for 13.5 yards per carry.
