South Carolina will still be down a handful of players Saturday night at Kentucky.

The Gamecocks will be without running back Christian Beal-Smith and defenders Boogie Huntley and RJ Roderick. None of those players traveled with the Gamecocks to Lexington.

Corey Rucker is also not on the travel roster.

With Beal-Smith out, MarShawn Lloyd is still the obvious starter but it will likely mean more run–literally–for Juju McDowell.

Huntley has been in and out of the lineup since the Arkansas game dealing with a leg injury, same with Roderick to a degree. He left the season opener against Georgia State with an arm injury and has been hit or miss in the lineup also.

The good news for the Gamecocks is they did bring three formerly banged-up players on the road. Dylan Wonnum, David Spaulding and Darius Rush are all on the trip and will be on the sideline Saturday night.

Stone Blanton made the trip, but Trai Jones did not.

“We’re Game 6, so there are normal bumps and bruises and guys that need to come along here these next couple of days for sure but nobody that we would sit here today and rule out as we sit here on Tuesday. It’s a long season and we’re approaching the halfway point of the regular season,” Beamer said Tuesday.

“So bumps and bruises like everybody but nobody other than the guys that have previously been announced as season-ending that I can sit here and say definitely aren’t playing on Saturday and hope to have everybody as full strength as possible.”
