Mike Shula officially hired, Clayton White receives extension
On Tuesday, the University of South Carolina, its Board of Trustees, and various subcommittees called a meeting. One of the many items on the agenda: “Approval of Football Personnel Agreements.”
Last week, Chris Clark reported Mike Shula’s impending promotion to offensive coordinator, so Gamecocks fans knew to expect a contract for their favorite team’s new playcaller. Shula’s deal, per the agreement, will be for three years. He will make $1.1 Million per season before incentives.

However, all of the other assistant coaches had their contracts updated on Tuesday, as well. The details are listed below:
Defensive coordinator Clayton White has had his contract amended. He receives a raise, upping his pay to $1.9 Million next season, $2.0 Million in 2026, and $2.1 Million in 2027. Following a strong 2024, White’s new deal will keep him in Columbia for at least three more seasons.
Special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis got a one-year extension. His contract now runs through 2027 and will pay him up to $850,000 annually in base pay by the end of the deal.
Tight ends coach and run game coordinator Shawn Elliott also got a one-year extension. His comes with pay escalators, though, as he will make $760,000 in 2025 and $775,000 in both 2026 and 2027.
Offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley’s contract was set to expire. Instead, the BOT brought forth a two-year deal for him. Teasley, who has helped sign multiple blue chip offensive linemen each year he has led the unit (2023, 2024, and 2025 recruiting classes), now will earn $675,000 per season. Teasley is under contract through 2026 now.

Wide receivers coach Mike Furrey, who had one more year left on his contract, received a $650,000 extension for 2026. Before the raise, he was set to make just $425,000. Furrey helped bring in one of the top receiver recruiting classes in all of college football this offseason. He also has a new title: passing game coordinator.
Running backs coach Marquel Blackwell got a one-year extension worth $580,000. The extension will move the life of his contract through 2026.
Defensive tackles coach Travian Robertson was in a similar boat to Teasley. USC has agreed to give him a two-year contract, as well. The new terms of Robertson’s deal, per Tuesday’s BOT meeting, will include $550,000 in base pay in 2025 and 2026.
Defensive ends/outside linebackers coach Sterling Lucas, who seems to earn a raise every offseason, has done it again. After coaching up an All-American (Kyle Kennard) and Freshman All-American (Dylan Stewart), the BOT rewarded Lucas’ work. Per Tuesday’s agreement, Lucas’ new deal will pay him $775,000 in 2026, piggybacking off of last offseason’s contract amendment that extended him through 2025.
Defensive backs coach Torrian Gray also got a raise and extension. He now is under contract through 2027 and will make up to $850,000 annually. Like Lucas, Gray earned a raise last offseason, but his new extension includes a bump in pay. Gray has coached five All-American or Freshman All-American defensive backs with the Gamecocks (Nick Emmanwori has done both).
