ESPN’s Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura have had different projections for the Gamecocks most of the season. However, their latest bowl prediction update reveals a united front. Both Schlabach and Bonagura listed the Gamecocks in the Gasparilla Bowl, facing off against an ACC foe. According to Schlabach, Carolina will play the Boston College Eagles, while Bonagura projects the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as the opponent. The Gamecocks have never played Boston College and haven’t seen Georgia Tech since 1991.
Steven Lassan of Athlon Sports has the Gamecocks heading to Nashville this December. According to Lassan, South Carolina will be in the Music City Bowl for a showdown with the Illinois Fighting Illini. If that matchup proves to be correct, it will be the first game played between the two programs.
Both Action Network’s Brett McMurphy and Jerry Palm of CBS Sports did not include the Gamecocks as a bowl team in their latest projections.
