This week, ESPN’s Chris Low put South Carolina EDGE rusher Dylan Stewart on his way-too-early 2025 All-American team. Stewart earned 1st team defensive end honors from the worldwide leader. Below is what Low had to say about the Gamecock star:

“Stewart came to South Carolina as a five-star recruit last year and played like it in a terrific freshman season that saw him rack up 10.5 tackles for loss, including 6.5 sacks, and force three fumbles. The 6-6, 248-pound Stewart is a blur coming off the edge and returns as one of the top pass rushers in college football, especially with a year of experience in the SEC and more familiarity with how offenses will try to block him.”

South Carolina will play against eleven players on ESPN’s way-too-early 2025 All-American team. Clemson (3), Alabama (3), LSU (2), Missouri (2), and Ole Miss all fall on the Gamecocks’ schedule this fall.

Low’s projection is one of many hyping up Stewart this offseason. The former 5-star prospect arrived in Columbia with high expectations thanks to his ranking. However, Stewart’s freshman campaign in garnet and black served as a launching point into even loftier projections for next season. It is easy to see why.

The rising sophomore had a strong first year in Columbia in which he picked up Freshman All-American honors, was a finalist for the Shaun Alexander Award, and even finished as On3’s Defensive Freshman of the Year. Stewart also is a likely 1st round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, and he went top-10 in Fox Sports’ hypothetical “everyone is eligible” mock draft ahead of the 2025 draft.

Earlier this offseason, ESPN also slotted South Carolina into the No. 10 spot in its way-too-early preseason rankings. If the Gamecocks are to be a top-10 team in 2025, it will require a big season from Dylan Stewart.
