South Carolina cornerback, former 4-star, to enter transfer portal

On Monday, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported that South Carolina defensive back Emory Floyd plans to enter the transfer portal. Floyd will enter the portal during the spring window with two expected years of eligibility remaining. The spring window opens on Wednesday, April 16th and will close on April 25th. Players who enter the portal can transfer even after the window closes.
A former 4-star prospect in the 2022 class, Floyd played in just seven games during his three years in Columbia. In those seven appearances, he logged two total tackles and one pass breakup, all in the 2023 season. Injuries and a crowded defensive backfield kept him buried on the depth chart. This spring, Floyd found himself behind a mixture of veterans and young players at cornerback.
Floyd joins former class of 2024 4-star EDGE Wendell Gregory as Gamecocks planning to transfer this spring. South Carolina also has signed veteran pass rusher Demon Clowney, the cousin of USC great Jadeveon Clowney.
