With major updates to the rankings across the recruiting industry on Monday, South Carolina football now has the No. 25 recruiting class in the country in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.

The shift marks the first time that the Gamecocks have broken into the Top 25 for the 2023 rankings after South Carolina gathered momentum and went on a commitment tear in late May through June into early July.

Following showcases including the Elite 11 and Under Armor Future 50, On3 released its latest On300 for the 2023 recruiting class Monday.

The three other major recruiting services also released updated rankings for the 2023 class as well.

The On3 Consensus is a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Jacksonville (Fla.) Andrew Jackson four-star linebacker Grayson “Pup” Howard continues to headline the South Carolina class as the Gamecocks’ highest-ranked commitment.

Howard, who committed in late June, is ranked the No. 201 overall prospect and the No. 16 linebacker in the class.

Sandersville (Ga.) Washington County class of 2023 On3Consensus four-star running back Dontavius “DJay” Braswell, now the second-highest rated prospect in the Gamecocks’ class, has made a sizable leap in the eyes of the recruiting industry.

The On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings is the most advanced, complete and unbiased ranking measurement in the industry, yet its simplicity makes it easy for fans to follow and understand.

It solves the problem of varying class sizes during the recruiting cycle. It compiles the highest-rated commits for each team up to a total based on a rolling average of current total commitments among Power 5 schools.

With this model, there are no bonus points for having more commitments than other teams and only small deductions occur when a team has fewer commitments than the rolling average. Unlike distribution (bell) curves, this model doesn’t disproportionately weight a team’s top three or four highest rated commits and is a more accurate representation of an entire class.
