Five South Carolina football predictions for the Missouri game
As South Carolina football matches up against Missouri on Saturday afternoon, GamecockCentral.com staffers take a stab at how the game against the Tigers may play out inside Williams-Brice Stadium.

CHRIS CLARK: Here’s a somewhat wild stat I uncovered while researching the Tigers:
Missouri has not given up more than two passing touchdowns to a single quarterback this season.
In three of the team’s games this season, the opposing team has not had a passing touchdown: Kansas State, Georgia, and Auburn. Louisiana Tech’s quarterbacks did combine for three total touchdowns through the air in the opener.
No quarterback has thrown more than one passing touchdown against Missouri in conference play.
Spencer Rattler is playing better than in the first quarter of the season in my opinion, but his numbers have not always reflected that.
Here’s to thinking Rattler has a pair on Saturday afternoon.
WES MITCHELL: South Carolina will have 3 or more sacks.
The Gamecocks have been getting consistent pressure on opponents for the last four games. Sometimes that has led to sacks, like the 6 they got against Kentucky, and sometimes it hasn’t, like the zero they get in 33 pressures on Texas A&M’s QBs. Still, the pressure has been pretty constant.
This is a Missouri team that struggles to protect its passer and has given up the most negative plays of anyone in the conference. That should lead to another big day for Carolina’s pass rush.
KENDALL SMITH: South Carolina leads the SEC in interceptions and Missouri has turned the ball over sixteen times this season. The Gamecocks defense has stepped up big as of late, and I expect them to do the same this week.
Darius Rush came close to the pick six last week against A&M, but this week I think it finally happens for South Carolina against Missouri.
Who it will be? I can’t predict that, but I think South Carolina’s defense will put some points on the board.

COLLYN TAYLOR: I’ll pull a Kendall Smith and predict a non-offensive touchdown. I think a defensive lineman is going to score Saturday night.
The Gamecocks have been good at pressuring the quarterback and the Tigers have thrown nine interceptions.
I think a defensive line that’s done well batting balls down will finally get their hands on one and house it. The smart money is on Tonka Hemingway or Jordan Burch.

MIKE UVA: Going up against a stingy Missouri defense, Mitch Jeter will do something he hasn’t done all season. That’s converting three field goals in a game.
It might not be the prediction people want to hear but I see this game being a low scoring affair and every point will count.
