On Thursday, South Carolina offensive lineman Kam Pringle signed a Name, Image, and Likeness deal (NIL) with Garnet Trust. The move signals the true freshman tackle’s intention to return for his redshirt freshman season with the Gamecocks.

Following some preseason battles with injuries, Pringle did not factor into the two-deep on the 2024 offensive line. However, he is a major part of South Carolina’s future up front. During his redshirt campaign, the Palmetto State native saw action in one contest. Therefore, he still will have four years of eligibility remaining in garnet and black.

Formerly a 4-star prospect in the class of 2024, Pringle is arguably the biggest player on the team. Listed at 6’8″ and 345 pounds, he will battle for a future job at one of the two tackle spots on the USC offensive line or at guard.

In the age of NIL and the transfer portal, player retention efforts are critical as teams fight to remain competitive. This is especially true for a South Carolina squad hoping to build off a strong 9-3 showing in 2024.

“Kudos to our fanbase, kudos to our administration, kudos to the Garnet Trust for all they’ve done to be able to help us and our guys out in so many ways,” Beamer said of South Carolina’s efforts in player retention last year. “This program is about relationships, honesty, and trust, and having conversations with guys, and building relationships throughout the season. Guys have expressed to us that they want to be (here).”

“I think retaining our current roster is the most important thing,” added Darren Uscher, South Carolina football’s Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting, during a recent appearance on GC Live.

Pringle’s return is a big deal for South Carolina football offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley. Because of his size, aggression, and raw strength, Pringle will be a major piece of the offensive line puzzle for years to come. Fellow tackle Cason Henry also signed a Garnet Trust NIL deal this week.
