South Carolina senior cracks another major award semifinal list
On Tuesday, South Carolina senior pass rusher Kyle Kennard was named a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award. Kennard is one of 20 semifinalists nominated for the prestigious honor. Last week, he earned a semifinalist spot on the watch list for the Lombardi Award, as well.
The Bednarik Award is named for Hall of Famer Chuck Bednarik and is given annually to the nation’s best defensive player. The Maxwell Football Club will whittle the list of 20 down to three finalists before final voting.
Kennard is right on pace for the South Carolina all-time single-season sack record and was an easy selection as a Bednarik semifinalist.
