South Carolina EDGE rusher headed to Reese's Senior Bowl
South Carolina defensive end Kyle Kennard officially has accepted an invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl. The Senior Bowl announced the news on Friday on social media.
One of the biggest no-brainer invites for the Senior Bowl this season, Kennard had a great final chapter to his college career. Following four years at Georgia Tech, the presumptive All-American had, by far, his best season.
This fall, Kennard logged some of the very best pash rush numbers in all of college football. With 11.5 sacks and 16 tackles for loss, the fifth-year senior has put himself near the top of both the South Carolina football record books and the NCAA’s 2024 statistical leaders.

At the end of January, Kennard will head to Mobile, Alabama for Senior Bowl festivities. With professional coaches, scouts, executives, and trainers in attendance, Kennard and other participants (including Gamecock defensive teammate Demetrius Knight) will practice for several days against other NFL Draft hopefuls while also showcasing themselves to NFL decision-makers. The Senior Bowl game will be on Saturday, February 1st.

Kennard has been mocked as high as the 1st round ahead of April’s NFL Draft. However, most projections have him going somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. A strong showing at the Senior Bowl could bolster his draft stock.
Last year, quarterback Spencer Rattler was one of the best performers in Mobile. Rattler took home the Quarterback Practice MVP and the Senior Bowl MVP. Wide receiver Xavier Legette also had a solid showing that helped solidify his status as a 1st round pick.
With the number of quality upperclassmen on this year’s South Carolina football team, fans can expect another name or two to pop up on the Senior Bowl radar before February. Kennard and Knight were two of 14 players from USC on the Senior Bowl’s preseason watch list.
