South Carolina star LaNorris Sellers a Heisman Trophy favorite in latest odds update

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers was the hottest player in college football last November, and his strong play allowed the Gamecocks to finish the 2024 regular season on a six-game winning streak. He set a program record for total touchdowns in a month, while limiting turnovers and showing off superhuman escapability. Because he was just a redshirt freshman, Sellers still has room for improvement–a scary thought for those who have to line up against him on Saturdays.
It’s no wonder that Sellers is a favorite for next year’s Heisman Trophy. Earlier this week, FanDuel updated its offseason odds for college football’s most prestigious award. In the update, Sellers slotted in with the sixth-best odds in the country.

Listed at +1600, Sellers is tied with fellow quarterbacks DJ Lagway (Florida), Drew Allar (Penn State), and Dante Moore (Oregon) and trails just quarterback Garrett Nussmeier (LSU, +800), quarterback Arch Manning (Texas, +800), quarterback Cade Klubnik (Clemson, +1000), wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State, +1200), and quarterback Julian Sayin (Ohio State, +1300). Essentially, FanDuel believes Sellers to be a top-10 candidate for the 2025 Heisman Trophy.
USC EDGE Dylan Stewart also made the list at +50000. Only a handful of defensive players made the cut.

No South Carolina football player has won the Heisman other than the 1980 winner, George Rogers. That year, “Big George” was the best among a loaded crop of running backs that also included players like Herschel Walker and Marcus Allen. If Sellers can match Rogers, he will cement himself as one of the top two players in program history.
Last season, Sellers brought home All-SEC honors, several SEC Freshman of the Year awards, and made some Freshman All-American squads. He was also the University of South Carolina’s Male Athlete of the Year.
