As the regular season came to a close, South Carolina football and quarterback LaNorris Sellers were among the most talked-about topics in the college football world. This was because the Gamecocks went on a strong six-game winning streak that saw Sellers post, arguably, the best single month in the history of the USC program.

Thanks to that finish, hype around the Gamecocks and their talented quarterback is growing. On Tuesday, Sellers found himself on another offseason Heisman Trophy odds list. BetOnline, a major player in the world of sports gambling, gives Sellers the fifth-best odds to win the Heisman.

At +1600, Sellers is tied with fellow quarterbacks DJ Lagway (Florida), John Mateer (Oklahoma), Drew Allar (Penn State), and Nico Iamaleava (Tennessee). He only trails Texas’ Arch Manning, LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier, Clemson’s Cade Klubnik, and Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith. Manning is the favorite at +600. Sellers and South Carolina will face off against both LSU and Clemson next season. That means he will have an opportunity for a direct showdown against Nussmeier and Klubnik.

During his All-SEC and SEC Freshman of the Year 2024 campaign, LaNorris Sellers put up some impressive numbers. He finished the season with Gamecock single-season freshman records of 3208 total yards and 25 total touchdowns (both records previously owned by Todd Ellis). He also broke South Carolina’s single-month record for touchdowns with 16 this November (previously held by Jake Bentley). Even more impressively, he led the Gamecocks to four wins over ranked opponents during that hot stretch.

South Carolina will open its 2025 season (and, perhaps, LaNorris Sellers’ Heisman Trophy campaign) on August 31st. The Gamecocks will face the Virginia Tech Hokies in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff.
