South Carolina football safety makes list for Lott Trophy

On Thursday afternoon, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation announced 16 quarterfinalists for the 2024 Lott IMPACT Trophy. South Carolina football junior safety Nick Emmanwori made the cut.
The Lott Trophy annually goes to the student-athlete who best exhibits the characteristics of its namesake. Named for Hall of Fame defensive back Ronnie Lott, one player earns the Lott Trophy by making an IMPACT. The acronym IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community, and Tenacity.

The Lott Trophy is a defensive award.
At the end of November, the list of 16 will be whittled to semifinalists. Then, in December, finalists will be chosen. The winner of the Lott Trophy will receive his award on December 9th at an award show in Las Vegas.
So far during the 2024 football season, Nick Emmanwori has been one of several South Carolina defenders who have made major impacts on the field. The junior safety has logged 38 tackles, two passes defended, and two interceptions. No. 7 returned one of those picks for a touchdown in the Gamecocks’ blowout against Kentucky. He also had one pick-6 (a 100-yarder against LSU) removed from the record books because of a questionable penalty away from the play.
