Mike Davis ranked No. 29 in 107.5 The Game's Top 30 Gamecocks
In honor of the 30th South Carolina football season in the SEC, 107.5 The Game will be ranking the top 30 players in program history. Former running back Mike Davis was next to join the list, coming in at No. 29.
Davis, who played for the Gamecocks from 2012-14, listed one spot ahead of former quarterback Stephen Garcia.
After decommitting from Florida, the 5-foot-9, 223-pound Davis committed to South Carolina on January 13, 2012.
Splitting time in the backfield with Marcus Lattimore and Kenny Miles, a then-freshman Davis ran for 275 yards and two touchdowns.
In year two, Davis became the top running back on the depth chart. Right away, he made an impact, rushing for 115 yards and a touchdown against North Carolina on Aug. 29, 2013.
Davis’ success wouldn’t stop there as he ran for at least 100 yards in five of the next six games. At the end of the year, Davis finished with 1,183 rushing yards, fourth-most in program history. In addition, he compiled 11 rushing touchdowns and 352 receiving yards.
In the season opener, Davis struggled mightily, running for 15 yards in a 52-28 loss to Texas A&M. Though, he quickly got back on track, as he rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns against East Carolina.
Entering 2014, Davis was named to the Maxwell Award, Doak Walker Award and Walter Camp Award watch lists.

Davis’ breakout game came against Kentucky, where he ran for 183 yards and three touchdowns.
On Dec. 27, 2014, Davis declared for the NFL Draft, forgoing his senior season. The following day, he would play his final collegiate game against Miami in the Independence Bowl. Davis rushed for 55 yards while making two catches for 19 yards and a touchdown in a 24-21 victory.
By the end of his college career, Davis combined for 3,195 total yards and 24 touchdowns at South Carolina.
After that, Davis was selected with the No. 126 overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2015 draft.
In 79 career games, Davis has rushed for 2,034 yards and 14 touchdowns.
After the 2021 season, the Atlanta Falcons released Davis. Soon after, he signed with the Baltimore Ravens on May 10, 2022.
