Following a red-hot finish to the 2024 regular season, South Carolina has been a trendy pick to finish the 2025 regular season on the College Football Playoff bubble. Some national pundits have predicted the Gamecocks will make the 12-team field. Most others have USC just outside of the playoff mix. Either way, though, the vast majority of national opinions seem to center around Shane Beamer’s team being a top-20 unit with legitimate CFP upside.

However, it appears that some oddsmakers have a different take. Recent post-spring updates from multiple betting outlets have been a little lower on the Gamecocks.

Earlier this week, Circa Sports and FanDuel revealed their post-spring over/under regular season win totals. Carolina owns a 7.5 over/under in both. Their standing in the SEC differs slightly between the two outlets.

Circa Sports has the Gamecocks tied for the ninth-best over/under total in the Southeastern Conference. Four SEC foes on the schedule (Alabama Crimson Tide, 9.5; LSU Tigers, 8.5; Ole Miss Rebels, 8.5; Texas A&M Aggies, 8) are positioned above South Carolina. Rounding out the conference slate, the Missouri Tigers match USC at 7.5, while the Oklahoma Sooners (7), Vanderbilt Commodores (5.5), and Kentucky Wildcats (4.5) trail the Gamecocks. The rival Clemson Tigers (9.5) are ahead, while season-opening opponent Virginia Tech Hokies (6.5) are just behind.

FanDuel also set the over/under at 7.5 but is slightly higher on South Carolina relative to the rest of the conference. That mark ties the Gamecocks for seventh in the league. Again, the Alabama Crimson Tide (9.5), LSU Tigers (8.5), and Ole Miss Rebels (8.5) are above the garnet and black and waiting on the team’s 2025 SEC schedule. According to FanDuel, both the Missouri Tigers and Texas A&M Aggies have a 7.5-win over/under, too. The Oklahoma Sooners (6.5), Vanderbilt Commodores (4.5), and Kentucky Wildcats (4.5) are also on the schedule. Like with Circa, FanDuel has the Clemson Tigers and Virginia Tech Hokies at 9.5 wins and 6.5 wins, respectively.

A 7.5-win over/under is an improvement from this time last year. Most betting outlets had South Carolina’s 2024 over/under set around 5.5 last spring. In three of the four years Shane Beamer has coached so far in Columbia, the Gamecocks have outperformed the majority of their projected over/under win totals.

The quest to do it again begins on August 31st. South Carolina will take on the Virginia Tech Hokies at 3:00 p.m. in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. ESPN will broadcast the contest, while the ESPN app makes it available via streaming.
