On3 names South Carolina stars as top 25 players in America
South Carolina football rising sophomores Dylan Stewart and LaNorris Sellers are special talents. Stewart started almost immediately at EDGE during his first year in Columbia, and he earned several Freshman of the Year or Defensive Freshman of the Year honors following a great freshman campaign in 2024. Sellers sat a season behind quarterback Spencer Rattler but burst onto the scene as a redshirt freshman. Like Stewart, he also earned multiple Freshman of the Year or Offensive Freshman of the Year awards this season.
This week, On3 released their top 25 players in college football in 2025, and both Stewart and Sellers (deservedly) earned inclusion.

Sellers slotted in at No. 20 on On3’s list. That ranking makes him the 5th-highest quarterback on the list. Sellers set multiple South Carolina football records this fall, and he played his best ball down the stretch. Several Heisman Trophy projections and odds lists have included Sellers this offseason. On3’s article says that the Gamecocks are a legitimate College Football Playoff hopeful for next season, and if those hopes are to be realized, LaNorris Sellers will have to be Superman again in 2025.
Stewart is the 2nd-highest defender on On3’s list, coming in at No. 4 overall. He is the top-rated SEC player on the list, as well. It’s easy to see why the athletic pass rusher continues to generate major hype this offseason. On3’s article called the Stewart-Kyle Kennard duo “one of the nation’s best” from 2024. That might be an understatement as Kennard won the Nagurski Trophy, and Stewart was the best freshman defender in America. Now without Kennard, Stewart will be one of the most important players in South Carolina’s quest to make the College Football Playoff.
