South Carolina targets feature prominently in Rivals300 2027 rankings

South Carolina football is in the midst of an important stretch of recruiting for the class of 2026. Several targets are announcing in July as Shane Beamer and company look to log a fourth consecutive top 20 class.
However, the Gamecocks are also making inroads with younger prospects, and the 2027 recruiting board is taking shape. On Wednesday, Rivals debuted its Rivals300 for the class of 2027, and a handful of South Carolina targets have moved up a bit from their previous spots. Several of the highest-rated recruits on USC’s boards boast prominent rankings inside the Rivals300 top 50.

While the Gamecocks have offers out to a few other top prospects, the highest-rated target on South Carolina’s radar is in-state corner Joshua Dobson. The Catawba Ridge High School product debuted as a five-star and as the No. 5 overall player in the country. He’s also No. 1 in the Palmetto State and No. 1 nationally among cornerbacks. Dobson is 6-1 with long arms and impressive athleticism that translates to sticky coverage ability.
Priority offensive line target Maxwell Hiller could one day join Dobson with a five-star rating. Currently, the Pennsylvania native is 25th overall in the class, 2nd in Pennsylvania, and 2nd nationally among interior offensive linemen. He is 6-5, 295, and one of the best technical blockers in the entire cycle.
