Make it 13! Add another to Gamecocks loaded official visitor list
You can add another name to South Carolina football’s loaded list of official visitors for this weekend.
Highland Springs (Va.) class of 2023 three-star defensive back Braylon Johnson Tweeted that he will be in Columbia on June 10 for his official, and Gamecock Central has confirmed that’s the case
That makes 13 expected official visitors on the docket for the Gamecocks.
The 6-foot, 167-pound prospect visited South Carolina in March when he landed an offer from the Gamecocks after watching them practice.
“The bigger people in the SEC, that was very appealing, just knowing I’d be able to compete with the best,” he told Gamecock Central at the time. “The excitement and the energy. Everybody was happy to be there. The flow of practice was fast, which I liked. They were thudding, but it was really physical so that was cool.”

“Throughout the day I talked with Coach Gray,” Johnson said after the visit. “The big kicker was me talking to Coach Beamer at the end, which really set the tone. He offered me in his office. That was a great experience. I was very excited.”
Johnson, the former teammate of current South Carolina wide receiver Antwane Wells Jr., also has offers from Virginia Tech, Virginia, North Carolina, Penn State, Michigan State, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Pitt, among others.
“I just want a home environment, a family environment so I feel like I”m wanted. I feel like if I’m wanted somewhere, I can grow and be the best version of myself,” he explained in the same previous interview. “That and scheme obviously, depth chart, where colleges are located, the demographics, the coaches background. Those are the things I’m looking into.”
The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – has Johnson as the No. 835 overall player in the country, No. 69 safety in the nation and No. 22 player from the state of Virginia in the class of 2023.
Johnson’s visit is part of a major recruiting weekend as the Gamecocks will host 13 prospects, including nine four-stars, on official visits (click here for the full list).
