Major South Carolina football recruiting target named All-American

On Thursday, South Carolina football recruiting target Darius Gray announced his intention to play in the Navy All-American Bowl. He recently revealed his All-American nomination and subsequent commitment to the game on social media.
As evidenced by his latest accolade, Gray is a big-time prospect. However, he is not a member of the class of 2025. Instead, the big offensive lineman will play in the all-star showcase as a junior this January.
As a prospect, the On3 industry rankings view Gray as the No. 30 overall player in the country, the No. 2 recruit in Virginia, and the No. 4 interior offensive lineman in the class of 2026.
South Carolina is one of the teams heavily involved in his recruitment. In fact, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Gamecocks as an overwhelming favorite to land Gray’s commitment.

A potential 5-star prospect, Gray’s recruitment is one Carolina fans should watch closely.
The South Carolina coaching staff has positioned USC well with Gray. The 6’3″, 285-pound road grader has been in Columbia more than 10 times already on visits. He is very familiar with the Gamecocks and the offensive coaching staff.

However, just because the Gamecocks are doing a good job in their efforts to recruit Gray, that does not mean that his recruitment is a slam dunk. Major programs like Ohio State, Tennessee, Michigan, LSU, and Penn State are also factors.
The St. Christopher’s School (Virginia) product will be in San Antonio, Texas for the Navy All-American Bowl in the second week of January. The game, itself, will be on January 11th and will be broadcast on NBC and streamed on Peacock.
While South Carolina has several All-American commitments (most will play in the Under Armour All-American Game), just one current Gamecock pledge will be in San Antonio with Gray. Fellow elite ’26 prospect J’Zavien Currence, a 4-star safety commitment, also will play in the Navy All-American Bowl.
