Priority South Carolina football recruiting target sets another spring Gamecock visit

South Carolina has been in on elite offensive lineman Darius Gray for a long time. The class of 2026 Virginia product is one of the most athletic blockers in the cycle and holds the Gamecocks in a high spot on his list of favorite schools. On Tuesday, he revealed that he will be back on campus in Columbia again soon.

He has an official visit set for June, but Gray announced on social media Tuesday night that he will take an unofficial to South Carolina on March 17th. He also said that he will check out Clemson, LSU, and Michigan over the next five weeks.
Gray has been to Columbia double-digit times on unofficial visits, both for games and for more casual visits. The fact that he will make the trip south again–despite already knowing everything there is to know about the Gamecocks–can’t be a bad thing for USC. As things stand, Carolina holds a strong lead in the On3 RPM.

This winter, Gray told On3 that the Gamecocks are one of his favorite teams and that non-football reasons also play a big part in those feelings. “My favorite thing is the people there,” Gray said. “They’re doing everything the right way. They’re really starting to get the things they want and that’s winning a lot of games. It’s great to see them get what they want and [them] doing it the right way. The main thing is the people there; that’s the biggest thing.”

As a player, the On3 industry rankings view Gray as the No. 42 prospect in America. That puts him second overall in Virginia and No. 3 nationally among interior offensive linemen.
