Lakeland (Fla.) class of 2023 four-star wide receiver Tyler Williams has locked in a mid-week official visit with South Carolina football, Gamecock Central has confirmed.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pounder is scheduled to arrive in Columbia on June 14 for what will be his third official visit of the process, though he now has all five scheduled.

South Carolina football fans may not be as familiar yet with Williams as some other prospects on the board but he is a true blue-chipper and wide receivers coach Justin Stepp has worked hard to get him on campus.

The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – ranks Williams as the No. 25 wide receiver and No. 146 overall prospect in the country as well as the No. 30 prospect in Florida. He has a rating of 91.78.

On3‘s analysts are even higher on Williams, ranking him as the No. 10 wide receiver and No. 55 overall prospect in his class with a 95 rating. On3 has him as the No. 12 overall prospect in the Sunshine State.

Former basketball-first athlete who blossomed as a wide receiver after transferring to powerhouse Lakeland High as a junior. Has a natural, well-rounded skill set at receiver. A big, fluid mover at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds. Draws on his basketball background to win at the catch point. High-points and attacks the ball in contested situations. Shows good lateral agility and spatial awareness as a runner after the catch. Continues to be a top basketball player, averaging over 15 points per game as a junior. Will need to continue progressing in the technical aspects of his game given his lack of football focus to this point.

Williams took an official visit to Clemson over the weekend and is scheduled to take an official visit to Georgia this weekend. On top of the South Carolina OV, he’s also scheduled to see Texas A&M on June 24 and Ole Miss on Sept. 2. He’s also taken multiple unofficial visits to Florida.

“I want to take all five of my official visits first, then commit,” Williams recently told Chad Simmons.

The Gamecocks recently offered Williams’ teammate, class of 2023 wide receiver Daidren Zipperer who quickly set up a visit and then raved about his experience this past weekend to Gamecock Central, which could be playing in the Gamecocks‘ favor.

In the meantime, South Carolina is scheduled to host a dozen or more prospects this weekend for its first massive official visit weekend of the summer.
