With class of 2026 official visits about to crank up, many who follow college football recruiting have their eyes focused on the high school ranks’ rising seniors. However, South Carolina has spent some time looking even further into the future, as well. On Tuesday, the Gamecocks dispensed a scholarship offer to versatile 2027 defender Kaden Woodie. Woodie announced on social media that defensive coordinator Clayton White made the offer.

Woodie, a Florida native, is listed as a linebacker by most in the recruiting industry, but he has played all over the defense for his Spuce Creek High School squad. The Hawks have utilized him at multiple linebacker spots, at EDGE, and even at nickel. As things stand, On3’s industry ranking pegs Woodie as the No. 466 overall player in the 2027 cycle. He’s also No. 57 in Florida and No. 35 among all linebackers.

Listed at 6-3 and 195 pounds, Woodie claims to be about 25 pounds heavier. He already looks the part of a player who could grow into the linebacker position at the college level. On film, he also appears extremely comfortable in the open field. Woodie is a physical player who can make plays with his athleticism and length but deliver punishing blows when needed. He looks good in pursuit and plays sideline to sideline as a tackler.

Woodie is strong in the weight room, showcasing his work ethic and indicating he can add further size well. He is also a track athlete, having competed as a shotputter and sprinter this spring.

Some of Woodie’s other power conference offers have been from Louisville, Syracuse, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Missouri, Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia.
