South Carolina earning visit from dynamic defensive prospect

On Tuesday, Rolesville, North Carolina product Marquis Bryant revealed that he will visit the South Carolina football program soon. According to an On3 recruiting graphic he posted to his social media accounts, he will be in Columbia for an unofficial visit on March 8th. Bryant also will visit Clemson, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Notre Dame, and Tennessee this spring.
Bryant, a class of 2027 defensive back prospect, has already caught the eye of the recruiting industry. While currently unranked by On3 (On3 has only ranked the top 85 in the ’27 cycle), the 6’1″ prospect has earned 4-star designations from 247Sports and Rivals. 247Sports considers him a top-100 national recruit.

Listed as a corner in On3’s database, Bryant also plays safety. Even as a high school sophomore, he has the type of size and athletic ability South Carolina defensive backs coach Torrian Gray likes in his players. Already listed at 6-1 and 190 pounds, he also is a smooth mover with speed and willingness to play physically. He made several all-state teams in a loaded North Carolina this past season.
Bryant has offers from nearly 20 power conference programs, including the Gamecocks. Because Rolesville is a suburb of Raleigh, some view the NC State Wolfpack as an early favorite. Other big-time offers include Tennessee, Penn State, North Carolina, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Miami, Florida State, and Ole Miss.
