South Carolina Football hosted Day 7 of Shane Beamer Camp on Saturday and two big defensive recruits worked out in front of coaches, while other top targets were hanging around the program.

Lawrenceville (GA) Mountain View class of 2024 EDGE Justin Greene and Florence (SC) West Florence class of 2024 DB Kelvin Hunter were two prospects who highlighted Saturday’s camp.

In-state ATH announces for Gamecocks

By Wes Mitchell

South Carolina football has its fifth public commitment of the week.

Rock Hill (S.C.) Legion Collegiate class of 2023 three-star ATH Judge Collier committed to the Gamecocks on Wednesday, going public with the news on Saturday.

The 6-foot-2, 192-pounder, who will play defensive back for the Gamecocks, landed an offer from defensive backs coach Torrian Gray following his camp performance earlier this month.

Collier is the Gamecocks’ fifth public commitment this week, joining Fort Myers (Fla.) Lehigh four-star ATH Kelton Henderson, Jacksonville (Fla.) The Bolles School three-star tight end Connor Cox and Perry (Fla.) Taylor County three-star DB Cameron Upshaw after all three pledged to South Carolina on Sunday and four-star DB Jalon Kilgore, who went public on Wednesday.

The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – ranks Collier as the No. 39 athlete, No. 705 overall prospect and No. 7 state of South Carolina prospect in the 2023 class.

Collier, who threw down some impressive measurables at South Carolina’s camp earlier this month, had offers from Wofford, Navy and Air Force. He was also receiving interest from N.C. State, Louisville and Maryland.

Collier was blown away when he met with South Carolina head football coach Shane Beamer and learned of his offer.

Collier was also impressed with Gray’s coaching style at the camp.

“Me and Coach Gray, we’ve had conversations before and he’s come by my school,” Collier told Gamecock Central earlier this month. “He’s talked to my head coach, and we’ve had a little relationship prior to the camp. He seems like a great coach. He knows what he’s doing. He brings a lot of energy to everything that he does. He can be on the other side of the field and he’s still chirping, he stays yelling, so he brings energy wherever he’s at.”

South Carolina has a great history recruiting Rock Hill — AKA Football City, USA — and that wasn’t lost on the long, athletic defender.

“Being from Rock Hill, you know a lot about South Carolina, we’ve had a couple of guys from a couple of the Rock Hill schools go to South Carolina, (Jadeveon) Clowney and (Stephon) Gilmore, a couple of the big names that people think about, but it’s a lot about South Carolina, that you know when you’re from that area,” he said.

The Gamecocks now have seven total public commitments with the five in this piece joining Atlanta (Ga) Pace Academy On3 four-star OL Trovon Baugh and Laurel (Md.) St. John’s three-star DB Zahbari Sandy on the South Carolina 2023 commit list.
