South Carolina football recruiting profiles: Anthony Addison
South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer and his coaching staff have less than two weeks before National Signing Day. (Remember when recruits signed in February?) The Early Signing Period begins Wednesday, December 4th, and the majority of teams’ high school recruiting classes will be completed by the time the Early Signing Period ends on Friday, December 6th. In the weeks leading up to NSD, GamecockCentral will profile each player in the 2025 recruiting class. Today, we will look at EDGE player Anthony Addison.
Anthony Addison (3-star, EDGE, 6’3″, 215 pounds)
What the rankings say: 3-star in On3 industry rankings, No. 475 nationally, No. 12 in South Carolina, No. 44 among all EDGE players; Anthony Addison is a 4-star prospect according to one of four recruiting services

Anthony Addison, an early USC pledge in the 2025 cycle, has a lot of athletic upside. As one of the top pass rushers in the state of South Carolina, it made sense for the Gamecocks to pursue Addison, and if things go well for his development, he could become a stud at the collegiate level.
Primarily a defensive end for Sumter High School (also nicknamed the Gamecocks), Addison has gotten a few snaps inside at defensive tackle and as a stand-up outside linebacker. However, his best trait is his quick-twitch ability as an EDGE. As things stand today, Addison will begin his career in garnet and black in the EDGE room. He also projects well at the position, sharing similar size and gifts to current Gamecock EDGE Bryan Thomas, Jr.
When lined up at defensive end, Addison has shown himself to be a tough player to block. His quick first step and athletic bend will serve him well in pass rush situations. With some solid coaching and development, he should become a good player against the run, too. The Sumter product has a knack for finding the football, too, racking up deflections and intercepting tipped passes.

However, Addison will need to add some weight to play up front in the SEC. He has better length than his listed height thanks to a nice wingspan, but at 215 pounds, he will need to hit the weight room hard and adjust well to the South Carolina football nutrition program. If he does that, he could put himself in solid position to have a good college career.
Immediate playing time might not be in Anthony Addison’s future, but some of that is because the 2025 version of the Gamecocks will return several contributors from this year’s team. Getting early snaps on the defensive line isn’t an easy thing to do for any player. However, a year to focus on learning and developing could be a huge blessing for Addison.
As one of 11 Palmetto State natives on the South Carolina football commitment list, Addison is part of one of the largest in-state classes in recent memory.
