South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer and his coaching staff have just about a month before National Signing Day. (Remember when recruits signed in February?) The Early Signing Period begins Wednesday, December 4th, and the majority of teams’ high school recruiting classes will be completed by the time the Early Signing Period ends on Friday, December 6th. In the weeks leading up to NSD, GamecockCentral will profile each player in the 2025 recruiting class. Today, we will look at wide receiver Brian Rowe.

What the rankings say: 4-star in On3 industry rankings, No. 355 nationally, No. 10 in North Carolina, No. 52 among all wide receivers; two of four major recruiting services rate Brian Rowe as a 4-star prospect

Brian Rowe was the second commitment of the class for the Gamecocks. He is a small receiver (listed at just 5’11 and 145 pounds), but he makes up for it with tremendous athleticism. He’s fast, he’s shifty, and he can get UP to pluck balls from over the head of defenders. Depending on how big he gets, he could play inside or outside at the college level.

Thanks to his quickness, Rowe has the potential to turn into an elite route-runner. He has good feet already, and he’s shown some good release moves on film. However, because of his game-breaking ability, he hasn’t had to run many routes against tight coverage in high school.

Rowe has a lot of experience operating in the quick game. Screen passes are easy ways to get him the ball in space, and he excels after the catch. However, assuming he adds some weight to help him carry the load better, he also profiles as a player who can help out in the run game on jet sweeps and swing passes. Similarly, he would do well at the college level on slant plays and other underneath routes that would showcase his quickness.

Upon his enrollment, Rowe should contribute immediately to the Gamecocks’ special teams unit. For his Jay M Robinson squad, he is an elite return man, and with his speed and quickness, he could be a useful coverage player, especially if he adds a little weight during his first summer with the team.

South Carolina football wide receivers coach Mike Furrey has earned five wideout commitments in the class. Joining Rowe, 4-stars Jordon Gidron, Malik Clark, and Lex Cyrus and 3-star Jayden Sellers have pledged themselves to the Gamecocks. There is the possibility of more additions to the class, as well. Because of that, 2025 potentially could be the best haul of pass-catchers in program history.
