South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer and his coaching staff have less than two weeks before National Signing Day. (Remember when recruits signed in February?) The Early Signing Period begins Wednesday, December 4th, and the majority of teams’ high school recruiting classes will be completed by the time the Early Signing Period ends on Friday, December 6th. In the weeks leading up to NSD, GamecockCentral will profile each player in the 2025 recruiting class. Today, we will look at wide receiver Jordon Gidron.

What the rankings say: 4-star in On3 industry rankings, No. 243 nationally, No. 6 in South Carolina, No. 32 among all wide receivers; Jordon Gidron is a 4-star prospect according to three of four recruiting outlets; however, he was a consensus 4-star in the class of 2026 before reclassifying to 2025

Jordon Gidron was a big recruiting win for the South Carolina football program. Originally part of the class of 2026, he reclassified and committed to the Gamecocks. His recruiting rankings took a small dip, but make no mistake, Gidron is one of the best wideouts in high school football. He has dealt with a nagging knee issue this season, but once he is fully healthy again, he will look to make an impact early with South Carolina.

Gidron has size (listed at 6’2″) and speed (ran 100-meter times in the 10.6s this spring). He’s a tough player to bring down after the catch, too. If defenders aren’t careful with their pursuit angles, they will get beaten by his speed. If they worry too much about how fast Gidron is, though, he uses his size and strength to bully through weak tackle attempts.

Next year’s Gamecock team will have some open spots in the wide receiver rotation. With seniors Dalevon Campbell, Gage Larvadain, and Payton Mangrum graduating (and tight end Josh Simon joining them), there will need to be a couple of youngsters who step up next year from Mike Furrey’s receiver room to complement returners like Mazeo Bennett, Nyck Harbor, Jared Brown, and Vandrevius Jacobs. If things go well for him, Gidron could be one such player.

Right now, Gidron is one of five wide receiver commitments in the South Carolina football recruiting class. He joins fellow in-state players Malik Clark and Jayden Sellers, North Carolina wideout Brian Rowe, and Pennsylvania product Lex Cyrus. There also is at least one more wideout who the USC staff hopes to bring into the fold. The group could be the best overall wide receiver class to sign with the Gamecocks.
