Irmo, S.C. native and current IMG Academy class of 2023 four-star wide receiver Devin Hyatt may not live in the Palmetto State anymore but he’s still got his eyes on the South Carolina football program.

The 6-foot-1, 179-pounder Hyatt narrowed his list Wednesday to four schools — South Carolina, AlabamaGeorgia and Tennessee — and told On3’s Chad Simmons that he hopes to commit soon.

Gamecock Central and On3 subscribers can read more details on Hyatt’s recruitment as he went in-depth with Simmons about each school, the process moving forward, and his decision timeframe.

Hyatt, whose older brother Jalin Hyatt is a receiver at Tennessee, took an unofficial visit to South Carolina for a spring football practice last month when he and his mother caught up with Gamecocks receivers coach Justin Stepp.

“I had a great time and liked what I saw at practice,” Hyatt told Gamecock Central in March. “Spencer (Rattler) and the rest of the offense was looking great and I loved spending time and getting to see how Coach Stepp coaches.”

While on campus, Hyatt also had an opportunity to catch up with Stepp and South Carolina offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield, and both gave him a sense of how he would be used in Columbia.

Said Hyatt: “Most of the time I was talking to Coach Stepp and Coach Satterfield but we talked about my plays, their plays and how the offense will be looking this year. We also talked about how their pro-style offense will get me ready for the league.”

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine — which uses predictions from industry experts, visit data, social media sentiment and historical outcomes on an AI platform to project the chances a player will attend a particular school — currently gives Tennessee a slight edge with a 39.9 percent chance to land Hyatt with the Gamecocks checking in next with a 23.7 percent chance.

Virginia Tech, Florida State, Kentucky, Penn State, Ole Miss, and Auburn, among others, had also offered Hyatt.

The Gamecocks are also targeting class of 2024 four-star QB Jayden Bradford, a fellow Palmetto State native, currently at IMG Academy.
