South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer talks up 4-star freshman

On Monday, South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer made another stop on his Welcome Home Tour, this time in Rock Hill. During his time in Football City, USA, Beamer spoke to the media and provided several updates on his team. One of those updates centered around impressive freshman offensive lineman Shed Sarratt.
Sarratt has had some buzz around his name from winter workouts. Following the early enrollee’s first spring practice experience, the noise is growing.
Said Beamer, “I feel confident saying right now that Shed Sarratt, the freshman offensive lineman, has put himself in position coming out of spring to play a lot.”

At 6-4 and 336 pounds, Sarratt played both guard and tackle as an all-state blocker at Gaffney High School. However, the big fella has kicked inside full-time with the Gamecocks. He has been part of the position battles at guard this offseason. USC replaces both starters at the position from a year ago, as both Torricelli Simpkins and Kamaar Bell graduated.
Competing with Sarratt are players like Trovon Baugh (who started eight games in 2023), Markee Anderson (a 4-star prospect from the ’23 class), Tree Babalade (a former starter at tackle who has played both positions this spring), and veteran transfers Nick Sharpe (Wake Forest) and Rodney Newsom (Western Kentucky). Spring transfer Nolan Hoy figures to join the competition this summer, too.
Beamer also had positive things to say about freshman wide receiver Malik Clark, another 4-star in the 2025 recruiting cycle.
