Multiple South Carolina signees among top performers at Shrine Bowl practice
The Palmetto State and Tar Heel State will battle for Carolinas supremacy on December 21st. Before the weekend showcase, though, the two teams must practice. On Thursday, On3’s Charles Power published his list of the top performers from the early goings of Shrine Bowl practice. Several South Carolina football signees featured prominently.

At the top of Power’s list, future Gamecock Donovan Darden stood out above all others. Lining up at linebacker and EDGE, Darden was a physical freak in Spartanburg. The North Carolina native is set to play linebacker for the Gamecocks. According to Power, Darden passed “the eye test” and looked good during drills.
Fellow South Carolina signee Shed Sarratt was No. 3 on Power’s Shrine Bowl practice rankings. The big offensive lineman from Gaffney could play tackle or guard at the next level but has lined up at left tackle at Shrine Bowl practice. Power said that Sarratt used his impressive strength “to halt pass rushers on contact.”
A third USC signee, EDGE Anthony Addison, slotted into Power’s No. 9 spot. Working mostly at outside linebacker, Addison put his hand in the dirt at end a few times, as well. Power said that the Sumter native moved well at both positions and looked bigger than his listed size of 215 pounds.

Though not on the list, Power shouted out fellow Gamecock signees Jaquel Holman, Taeshawn Alston, and Damarcus Leach. Holman, an athlete who will play linebacker to start his USC career, lined up at that spot and performed well. Alston, another linebacker/EDGE hybrid, played well at defensive end for the North Carolina team. Power complimented Leach’s feet and size for the safety position.
Several other future Gamecocks made the Shrine Bowl but will not play after enrolling early at South Carolina. Among that list of players are Jayden Sellers, Malik Clark, Brian Rowe, and Cutter Woods. Sellers, Clark, Rowe, and Woods are going through bowl practice with the Gamecocks in a limited capacity. 4-star EDGE committ Jaquavious Dodd practiced earlier in the week but wasn’t present when Power was there.
