Former South Carolina director of player personnel Taylor Edwards is not going to North Carolina. Following reports last week of Edwards joining Bill Belichick’s recruiting staff, new reports have surfaced that Edwards is joining the Miami Hurricanes instead.

247Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported the news. According to Zenitz, Edwards and UNC never completed a deal, and he expects Edwards in Coral Gables soon. The new role with the Hurricanes has not been defined but has been called “a high-ranking personnel role.” It also was unclear exactly what role Edwards was set to take in the recruiting department in Chapel Hill. Miami head coach Mario Cristobal seems to be expanding his recruiting department by hiring Edwards.

This summer, South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer fired Edwards for his role in committing recruiting violations. Specifically, the University of South Carolina dismissed Edwards as part of its self-reporting of Level-III NCAA recruiting violations. He had been on the job in Columbia for over three years before his dismissal. The Gamecocks replaced Edwards with USC alum Darren Uscher.
