The Gamecocks in the Top 10 at their position in the new On3 College Football Impact 300
The soon-to-be-released On3 Impact 300 ranks the best players in college football entering the 2022 season and three South Carolina football players landed in the Top 10 in the country among players in their respective position groups.
The highest-ranked player on the Gamecock roster is redshirt junior cornerback Cam Smith, who checks in as the No. 1 cornerback in the country and the No. 6 overall player in the SEC.
Next on the list is South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler who is considered the No. 5 quarterback in the country and the No. 2 QB in the SEC, according to the Impact 300, which also takes into account a player’s NIL valuation.
Rattler is also considered the No. 12 overall player in the SEC.
Junior tight end Jaheim Bell rounds out the Gamecocks among the Top 10 at their positions.
South Carolina’s do-it-all playmaker is considered the No. 3 tight end in the country and the No. 2 TE in the SEC, though he is outside of the top 20 overall players in the conference.

No. 1 CB Cam Smith
Smith finished his redshirt sophomore season with three interceptions, but he had a far bigger impact than those numbers would suggest. He allowed only 15 catches on 32 targets, leading the Gamecocks with 14 passes defended. His current NIL valuation is a whopping $548,000, good for No. 46 on the NIL 100 ranking.
No. 5 QB Spencer Rattler
Former OU quarterback Spencer Rattler had the fewest total yards in 2021 of all quarterbacks who started in the top-10 of the On3 Impact 300, however, his 3,031-yard season in 2020 factors into the new Gamecock’s 2022 projection. The presumed starter for South Carolina, Rattler has an NIL value of $2 million. He was the No. 3 QB transfer this offseason behind Caleb Williams and Quinn Ewers.
No. 3 TE Jaheim Bell
Bell earned second-team All-SEC recognition after recording 30 catches for 497 yards and five touchdowns in 2021. Impressively, he averaged 16.6 yards per catch, emerging as a big-play threat for a tight end. He was playing his best ball at year’s end, recording a career-high 159 yards and two touchdowns in a Duke’s Mayo Bowl win over North Carolina. Current NIL valuation: $363,000.
